Local Service Projects
Local projects take place on Sundays and school holidays during the school year. Annually, J-Teen Leadership organizes an interfaith program on Martin Luther King Day in January, the largest such event in the county, and leads the Westchester multi-organizational initiative, J-SERVE: International Day of Jewish Youth Service, in April. Local projects run for a few hours. Participants receive community service certificates following their participation.
Local projects include, holiday parties for children in residential treatment centers and craft projects at a children’s hospital, medical and humanitarian supplies sorting, Midnight Runs to help the homeless, food preparation and pantry work, food delivery to homebound elderly, children’s clothes collecting and sorting, rebuilding projects with house justice organizations, environmental clean ups, anti-bullying workshops, and interfaith projects and programs.
